The general objective of the Technical Cooperation (TC) is to support the Government of Panama in the structuring of a sustainable energization plan for the rural areas of the country which considers socio-environmental, technical and financial aspects. This TC includes the following specific objectives: update the existing database of customers without power access and establish the best technological option for the electricity supply (grid extension versus mini-grids versus individual solutions, renewable generation and/or hybrid, storage and smart grids); develop of technical, economic, financial, political, regulatory, environmental and social analysis of the projects financed by the rural energization program (PN-L1095); develop specific business models for the different available connection options; update and structuring the program execution mechanism as well as the sustainability of future and already executed projects to maximize the participation opportunity of the private and cooperative sectors; strengthening the government capacity to lead the universal electricity power service program.
