Supporting basic health care through UNICEF

The aim of the project is to improve basic health care in the current crisis situation. The target group of the measures is the population of Burundi, and in particular children and mothers who are more dependent on adequate health services than other parts of the population. The financed measures include the procurement and distribution of essential medicines, materials, vaccines and special foods to combat malnutrition to the health districts of Burundi. The project focuses on the particularly vulnerable provinces of Gitega, Mwaro, Muramvya, Bubanza, Bujumbura Rural, Bururi, Cibitoke and Kirundo. However, the distribution of the medicines is planned nationwide in all 46 health districts. The project is being implemented directly by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The FC funding contribution is EUR 10.0 million. The stock check includes a further volume of EUR 10.0 million. The implementation period is 12 months.
