Description

Description

The aim of the measures is to support the vaccination campaigns in the EAC partner countries. This includes strengthening the capacities of the health system to carry out the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, as well as increasing acceptance and willingness to be vaccinated among the population, particularly in rural regions. The following project components/activities are planned: Procurement of relevant equipment and consumables for health facilities that carry out vaccinations (including cold chain equipment, IT equipment, PPE). This should include both the AKU hospitals and outreach centers, as well as public (state and church) institutions in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and the DRC in order to achieve the highest possible outreach. Implementation of training measures for health personnel on how to carry out vaccinations and infection protection (online and in-person) - opening to all EAC countries possible. Implementation of information and awareness campaigns via media institutions (e.g. rural radio stations) and direct contact through community-based organizations - expansion to other/all EAC countries possible. Procurement and use of mobile vaccination buses to carry out vaccinations in rural areas.
