Description
Description | The aim of the project is to make a contribution to combating malnutrition and undernutrition among children in the current crisis situation and, in addition, to improve basic health care for mothers and children in the medium to long term through structural measures. The target group of the measures is the population of Burundi and in particular children under the age of five, who are severely affected by the current precarious food supply and who are therefore permanently impaired in their development. The financed measures include the procurement and distribution of special food and essential medicines to combat malnutrition to the health districts, the training of health professionals in the treatment and prevention of childhood illnesses and the storage of food and medicine stocks for medium-term supplies. The measures are intended to strengthen local capacities and thus ensure a sustainability-oriented approach. The project focuses on the particularly vulnerable provinces of Gitega, Mwaro, Muramvya, Bubanza, Bujumbura Rural, Bururi, Cibitoke and Kirundo. However, the distribution of the medicines is planned in all 46 health districts nationwide. |
