General objective of STIRE is to foster the integration of resettled TCNs into their respective host communities in AT, IE, HR, IT, RO and SI by contributing to their support pre-departure and post-arrival, capacity building in the receiving communities and promoting cooperation and partnership between resettled TCNs and host communities. For this purpose a web-blog is developed and promoted to deliver information about resettlement, already pre-departure, during the process and after they arrive, additionally it will also offer information for professionals and practitioners working with resettled TCNs. Post-arrival 21 socio-cultural-orientation workshops will provide first hand essential information for 350 TCNs and 18 tailor made seminars with 231 participants in receiving communities will equip those working with resettled TCNs with the necessary skills. A set of over 50 public events and workshops will promote cooperation and partnership between TCNs and their host communities as well as enable community involvement by volunteering and self-expression in exhibitions and cultural markets. Special attention in the project is paid to the gender dimension, rights of the child and vulnerabilities by including specifically trauma-awareness and gender sensible methods. The expected impact on resettled TCNs will be to better establish a new existence in EU countries by better knowledge and understanding of the culture, the social system, the language and other information necessary to navigate through the new administrative and legal system. The impact on professionals, officials as well as volunteers engaged in the reception of TCNs will be better preparation for working in an intercultural setting as they will have better understanding of cultural differences and intercultural skills. Host communities will benefit through increased intercultural competence of people working with TCNs and community development and diversity will be enhanced.
