Supporting the transition process through the multi-partner fund STARS in Sudan

The project concerns the co-financing of the World Bank-managed multi-partner fund STARS (Sudan Transition and Recovery Support). The original goal of STARS and thus also of the project is to support the economic and social transition process. The political transition process is currently suspended. The STARS thematic areas are broad and allow flexibility in adapting programs to changing political conditions. STARS is currently concentrating on measures implemented outside of government to mitigate the immediate social hardships resulting from the multiple crises and to strengthen the longer-term resilience of the population. The focus is on multi-sectoral programs to build resilience at the community level that contribute to recovery and improvement of services and livelihoods.
