Description | Surajbari Private Limited was created to build and operate a wind power project in the state of Gujarat operating at a capacity of 10.5 MW (7 turbines of 1.5 MW each). The entire power generated was to be sold to GUVNL, the state run power utility via a long term power purchase agreement. As per the plan SWDPL had commissioned the first phase by July 2007 and the second phase by December 2007 but the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) only after February 2008. The plant was eligible for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) benefits created under the Kyoto Protocol. The plant was owned and operated by Energy Infratech Pvt Ltd (“EIPL”). Asian Genco had a 50% interest in this plant through EIPL. The project cost was INR592 million (US$13.6 million). |
