"Surfstainable community will promote the participation of ocean lovers to become ambassadors for the protection of the sea by means of scientific activities addressing data collection in marine ecosystems, in collaboration with experts of the field who sensibilise audience and analyse collected data. This project involves citizens together with universities, NGOs, surf and tech enterprises to promote the understanding of the ocean system, supporting data collection, rethinking relations between sea and people and promoting open source eco-friendly technologies in the branch of the water and outdoor sports business. The project will reach people from all sectors, who ""love the sea"", involving knowledge and participation to raise awareness on environmental issues, especially by underlining the importance of marine ecosystems in relation to climate change. The multidisciplinary and active approach involves citizens in playful citizen science activities that ranges from physical events to create attention, online training and social campaigns, both in-situ and online. Planned activities are: 1 In-situ kick-off sensibilization event 2 Online training of opinion leaders from the water sport sector 3 In-situ multiplier event to kickstart a citizen science campaign 4 In-situ and online campaigning to widen awareness about marine ecosystem challenges The project aims to involve citizens in discussing climate and green issues and proposing solutions to decision makers thanks to citizen science combined with technology, art, culture, sea sports and love for the sea.
