Description

Description

The proposed project will build a heating plant with approximately 6 MW thermal capacity using recovered waste heat from a regional trunk sewer and the North Surrey Sports and Ice Complex. The project will also build a district energy system to distribute the recovered heat to buildings in the City Centre, displacing mainly natural gas boilers. The project will increase the generation of clean energy by recovering and distributing waste heat to displace natural gas use, and will serve the growing City Centre population, which is expected to double by 2040. The project works include: - interceptor sewage pump station; - sewer heat recovery facility with sewage screening, sewer heat exchangers, rink heat exchanger, and distribution pumps; - approximately 2.5 km of distribution piping and fittings; - heat pumps with total capacity of approximately 6 MW(th) and other necessary retrofits to the existing West Village Energy Centre; - and site work, access roads/paths, mechanical, electrical, control/monitoring, signage, and other related works and appurtenances.
