Surrey Langley SkyTrain (SLS) - BC Hydro

The forthcoming Surrey Langley SkyTrain (SLS) project plans to extend existing Expo Line SkyTrain by 16 kms on an elevated guideway from King George Station to Langley City Centre along Fraser Highway. The Critical Advanced Works, Planning and Development will contribute to and provide advancement of the SLS project, mitigating potential schedule and financial risks by preventing schedule delays. The SLS project begins with Stage 1 for the planning and critical advanced works (including BC Hydro), while Stage 2 are the advanced works, followed by Stage 3, the construction of the physical rail line. Funding identified in this Project will be used to develop an early concept plan, followed by a fully-developed business case. The Project’s advanced works phase includes relothe cation of BC Hydro utilities to accommodate the future alignment. Carrying out critical advanced works now will reduce costs and risk during the construction of the SLS project, as any issues, such as geological problems or work delays will be able to be addressed ahead of the main project.
