Surtsey Films was founded 13 years ago by Miguel Ángel Pérez, who has more than 30 years of experience in film distribution in companies such as TriPictures and Vertigo, as well as creating the distribution company Karma Films, founded in 2003, in Spain. One of the main concerns has been to choose films that address sensitive issues to viewers, both for the cinematic quality, as for its proximity. A cinema where they can see their yearnings, their daily concerns, without leaving aside themes of great cultural value, as well as the visibility of minority cultures and groups. SURTSEY FILMS attends the main international markets & festivals. Every year, our company travels around the world looking for special and original films to release in Spain: Berlinale, Cannes, San Sebastián, Venice, Locarno, Karlovy Vary, Tallinn Black Nights, New Horizons, etc. In 2025 we have planned to launch more than 8 european films and for the coming months we are working on the strategy of our next releases and we continue to look forward to the future of independent cinema in movie theaters with enthusiasm and hope. Knowledge and passion for distributing quality film content to reach wide audiences has driven SURTSEY FILMS a clear commitment to distributing quality, commercial films, with a special focus on European productions, with stories that inspire and captivate viewers.
