Survey on Teaching and Learning in Slovenia

The project will support the participation of Slovenia in the international Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) administered by the Organisation for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD). TALIS asks teachers and school principals about issues such as the professional development they have received; their teaching beliefs and practices; the assessment of their work and the feedback and recognition they receive; as well as various other school leadership, management and workplace issues. TALIS relies on teachers' and school leaders' expertise as professionals to describe their work situation as accurately as possible, as well as their experiences in and feelings about their schools and working conditions. It is not an assessment, but a self-reported survey. The European Commission supports the participation in the survey of the EU Member States and of the third countries associated to Erasmus+, so that comparable data on the level of skills of teachers, as well as the determinants and the outcomes of skills becomes available in those countries, to inform national as well as European policy. To ensure comparability of data, OECD provides a framework in terms of quality criteria as well as what kind of data needs to be collected and submitted, so that it can be part of the international database, set up by OECD. From 2025 to 2026, the main activities will remain focused on the TALIS 2024 cycle, including data analysis, development, and reporting, as well as the creation of products and communications for data dissemination. Two additional international reports will be published in 2026 and 2027. This means that data processing, analysis, and report preparation will continue in 2026. At the national level, Slovenia is planning to organise a series of press conferences, dissemination events and activities surrounding and following the publication of the international and national reports.
