Description | Talen Energy has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Amazon to supply up to 1.92MW of carbon-free nuclear electricity from the Susquehanna nuclear power plant to Amazon Web Services data centres in Pennsylvania. The power delivery will gradually increase to full capacity by 2032, transitioning from a co-located load arrangement to a front-of-the-meter system after transmission reconfigurations in spring 2026. The deal supports clean energy supply to Amazon's data centre campus and potentially other locations in Pennsylvania, reducing market risks for Talen and minimizing dependence on federal tax credits. The partnership also explores opportunities for small modular reactors and uprates at the Susquehanna facility. |
