The project is aligned with the following impact: food security and nutrition improved, and agriculture exports increased in a climate resilient manner. The project will have the following outcome: climate resilient and gender-responsive nutritious food production and agrifood value addition increased. The project will have four outputs: (i) smallholder access to financial, technical and nutrition services improved in a climate resilient manner, (ii) agricultural enterprise value chains strengthened in a climate resilient manner; (iii) small-scale climate resilient infrastructure developed in support of target value chains; and (iv) accreditation of food safety laboratories facilitated. The project is nationwide in scope, with financial services to be provided in all provinces. However, technical advisory services and value chain infrastructure will be provided in six priority provinces (Champasak, Salavan and Xekong in the south and Houaphan, Phongsaly and Xayabury in the north). Within these, 12 priority districts are selected for project investment based on the incidence of five priority crops (bamboo, sustainable cassava, coffee, durian and tea). Nutrition activities will be implemented in 140 poor and climate-vulnerable villages in seven districts of four priority provinces (Houaphan, Phongsaly, Salavan and Xekong) where food insecurity is above below the national average.
