SUstainable and REsilient Communities

ongoing

SURE empowers local communities and citizens to build local sustainability, resilience, and democratic participation in the face of global environmental, social and economic challenges. Through cross-border collaboration, targeted local actions, capacity-building on topics that matter to citizens, and inclusive civic engagement, SURE fosters the green transitions in Europe. The project actively encourages discussions and exchanges among citizens, local leaders, civil society stakeholders and policymakers about the future of the European Union and its policies, with a focus on rural areas. By creating spaces for dialogue and sharing innovative practices, it aims to make citizens more aware of relevant EU policies and help them better understand the EU’s priorities, at the same time improving EU policies to better address local citizens’ needs in response to global challenges. By mobilising citizens – with a focus on women and young people -, local leaders, civil society organisations, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders, the project strengthens rural democracy, improves policy dialogue, enhances social cohesion, and equips communities to adapt to climate change and demographic shifts. SURE delivers practical tools, replicable models, and a strong European network committed to resilient, future-ready rural areas.
