Sustainable Coffee Landscape Project

The development objective of the Sustainable Coffee Landscape Project is to pilot sustainable land and water management practices in the coffee landscape of Burundi. There are four components to the project. The first component of the project is sustainable coffee landscape management. This component will finance technical assistance, workshops, goods, works, matching grants for associated subprojects, services and operational costs in order to promote sustainable land and water management, agroforestry and shade grown coffee cultivation, as well as conservation activities in one protected area. The second component of the project is addressing pollution point sources in coffee washing stations. The component's objective is to address the sources of pollution in the coffee washing stations (CWS) that will have direct environmental benefits and support attempts to access higher value markets that demand improved production standards. The third component of the project is diversification of livelihoods. This component would finance works, goods, technical assistance, workshops and training, matching grants for associated subprojects and operational costs for the following activities. The fourth component of the project is knowledge and learning. The component will finance operational costs, services and technical assistance for the project's management, the implementation of the project's monitoring and evaluation (M&E) particularly an Impact Evaluation (IE) as well as communication activities.
