Sustainable Consumption and European Law

The proposed Jean Monnet module, called “Sustainable Consumption and European Law”, aims to disseminate European public policies and regulations regarding sustainable consumption, based on three thematic axes: 1. Durability of consumer goods. 2. The regulation of commercial advertising in relation to sustainable consumption. 3. Food security. The proposal has a total duration of three years (one year for each thematic axis) and is based on the important contributions that European Law has made around the three pillars described, wich contrast with the precarious chilean regulations. Although the territorial scope of the project is limited to Chile, it is expected that its influence can also reach other Latin American countries. Among the expected results are the delivery of three specialization courses (one for each year of execution), undergraduate an graduate clases at the Universidad Autónoma de Chile, delivery of seminars, workshops with relevant actors (industry, judges, businesspeople, public services), and the writing of popular and/or scientific texts.
