The program for sustainable forestry is aimed at promoting forest management based on the criteria of sustainability and productivity. The aim of the project is to contribute to reducing deforestation, curbing climate change and protecting biodiversity in Peru. The project sponsor is the national forestry authority (Servicio Nacional Forestal y de Fauna Silvestre - SERFOR). The total cost of the project is 113.0 million euros and consists of the FC contribution of 60.0 million euros and a Peruvian contribution of 53.0 million euros. The project comprises three sub-projects. The first sub-project is to reforest up to 30,000 hectares in the Andean and Amazon regions of the country (financed only from Peruvian budget funds). The second sub-project promotes models of sustainable forest management in four particularly forest-rich Amazon regions, the third sub-project promotes forest spatial planning as a basis for reforestation and an expansion of sustainably used forest areas. The target groups of the FC module include the users of forest resources (local residents, indigenous communities, farming communities, companies in the forestry sector and wood processing companies), the institutions of the forestry sector and the general population. Through its focus on sustainable forest management, the project aims to contribute to achieving Goal 15 of the 2030 Agenda.
