Sustainable Goals through Sport

forthcoming

The Sustainable Goals through Sport (SGS) project is a transnational capacity-building initiative that leverages sport-based education to promote sustainability, youth empowerment, and cross-sector collaboration. It aims to bridge the gap between mega-sport events, sustainability education, and youth inclusion, ensuring that events like the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games leave a lasting educational legacy. SGS will develop a Sport & Sustainability toolkit, an e-learning course and a Digital Knowledge Hub, equipping youth workers, educators, and sports organizations with accessible educational tools. It will train 100+ Youth Sustainability Ambassadors, empowering young people, particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds, to lead sustainability-focused sports initiatives. As part of its outreach, the project will host a Youth Engagement Festival at Dakar 2026, featuring interactive workshops, peer-led activities, and sustainability challenges. Additionally, a Final Policy Conference within the European Youth and Sport Platform 2027 will ensure that project outcomes influence EU and international policy on sport, sustainability, and youth development. By integrating sport, education, and sustainability, SGS will create lasting change, strengthening cooperation between youth organizations, sports federations, and policymakers across Europe and Africa
