Description
Description | The 2024 EU Parliament elections and the 2030 Agenda are at the core of the project aimed at 5000 young people aged 17 to 25 who don’t know what the EU is and don’t see why they should go to vote but clearly perceive the unsustainability of their lifestyle and the society in which they live. However, they do not know where to start to change things. Sustainable Participation Goals (SPGs) in 24 months will directly involve 250 young people with fewer opportunities or at risk of social exclusion from 5 different countries, making them protagonists of a journey of discovery of the European Union, its values, its policies and the possibilities of contributing democratically to its existence. Helped by 15 trained youth workers, they will reflect on SDGs, on how politics acts or does not act to achieve them, discuss them with MEPs, and bring them to the direct attention of their communities, proposing solutions to improve daily life concretely contributing to a common sustainable future. In line with the EU Youth Strategy, in addressing these issues SPGs offers young people a broad path of recognition of new key skills, personal and group enhancement and, for the first time in their lives, the chance of European mobility to discover other young people who, like them, wonder about the uncertain future and may have already found around answers to share. Feeling protagonists, being able to interact directly with the political decision-makers, and demonstrate to oneself and others that it is possible to be the main actors of a common future are the intangible results that SPGs wants to leave as a legacy to young people. A Guide to the first European vote - designed by young people for young people, Recommendation papers for policy makers on issues of key importance for community development, and a Toolkit for youth workers to replicate and disseminate this path will be the main tangible outputs that will remain available after the project. |
