Sustainable urban mobility

The project aims to support the state fund for local public transport (FART) in promoting and financing the expansion of modern public transport services in cities and municipalities. The number of vehicles in Morocco is growing by around 6% annually, half of which are concentrated in the Casablanca and Rabat-Salé regions. Around a third of Morocco's energy needs per year are accounted for by the transport sector, which in turn consists mainly of road transport (87%). Measures to increase energy efficiency in the transport sector are therefore essential for the success of the Moroccan climate strategy. The aim of this project is to counteract the steady increase in private transport and the associated emissions by promoting climate-friendly urban mobility in Moroccan cities. The project supports Morocco in using energy resources more efficiently and thus contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and global climate protection.
