Description

Description

Rezekne (LV) and Kupiškis (LT) districts being close to Lithuanian-Latvian border suffer from common problems, however rich natural and cultural resources combined with crossborder cooperation can open opportunities for tourism development and contribute to resolution of social-economic problems. The project develops water tourism services and infrastructure at Lubana lake in Rezekne and Kupiškis lagoon that are one of the biggest lakes in their countries. The project increases the safety and better services at the lake beaches by installing new infrastructure and obtaining lifeguards saving equipment, promotes water sports events by organizing 2 international regattas, carries out the training courses and study trips for tourism specialists, develops joint cross-border strategy for sustainable water tourism development, publishes joint water tourism map. In the long term these measures would result in the increased number of participants and spectators in water tourism events and visitors to the regions.
