Swachhata Awards and Waste-Free State Initiative in Andhra Pradesh

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has directed the introduction of 'Swachhata' awards in the state, similar to the Swachh Bharat awards, to promote cleanliness. The initiative includes organizing special programmes in selected corporations, reducing single-use plastics, producing cloth bags through self-help groups, making government offices plastic-free, and achieving a waste-free state through a circular economy. Circular economy clusters are planned in several districts, and a model project for waste-free management is being implemented in Kuppam municipality. The government also plans to clear accumulated waste and integrate aqua waste management into the circular economy.
