Description
Description | The Ezulwini Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Services Delivery Project (ESWSSDP) seeks to spur growth in the area which is currently constrained mainly by lack of reliable water supply and sanitation services. Ezulwini is the fastest expanding and developing town in Swaziland. Some planned further developments include tourism facilities, conference centre, high class residential areas, schools, and health centers, etc. However, lack of adequate and sustainable water supply and sanitation services in the area is a major constraint and is undermining the planned growth. The project will address both the urgent need of additional water supply and sanitation services, and therefore protect the ground water resources from pollution thereby providing a healthy environment for the population. It is based on development of more reliable and sustainable water sources in the area and promotion of more environmentally friendly solutions for sanitation. While sewerage system will be developed in the urban area, those in peri-urban and adjacent rural areas will be equipped with appropriate knowledge to provide for their own improved sanitation facilities. The total cost of the project is estimated as UA 17.604 million (SZL 304.65 million). It will be implemented over a period of four years. |
