Swaziland - Two International Roads Project

The Two International Roads Project in Swaziland aims at upgrading of roads which carry high traffic volumes and to stimulate tourism and agriculture production. The project consists of: (i) A 19.3 km bitumen road between Ngwenya and Mbabane, with the first 15 km rehabilitated and upgraded to dual (2x7 m) carriageway and the remaining 8 km upgraded to 7 m carriageway with two 2 m paved shoulders, and 5 m wide climbing lanes on steep sections; (ii) A 47 km bitumen standard road between Luyengo and Sicunusa with a 6.5 m wide carriageway and two 2 m wide paved shoulders (iii) Consulting services for onsite supervision and monitoring of the civil works of each road. The Mbabane – Ngwenya road is economically and strategically the most important road in The Kingdom of Swaziland. The road is an important international transport corridor leading to Gauteng Region (Johannesburg) and is located in the north west of Swaziland and forms part of the MR3 Road from Ngwenya to Lomahasha (with border of Swaziland and Mozambique).
