SWPCC Biosolids System Upgrades

This project consists of the installation of a new solid bowl centrifuge and odour control equipment in the existing biosolids building. The centrifuge will require minor electrical wiring and mechanical piping modifications to the existing plant setup. The new centrifuge will replace one existing rotary press and will result in very few changes to the solids handling process upstream. Waste activated sludge will continue to be wasted to the rotary drum thickener (RDT) via the existing WAS pumps. Following thickening the sludge will drop into the blend tank where it will be combined with primary sludge prior to being fed to the centrifuge. The existing progressive cavity pumps installed in the sludge blending pump station will deliver the sludge to the new centrifuge. The scrubber will be installed between the existing two stacks of the ventilation system at the biosolids building. The scrubber will have a mist eliminator to prevent the water from escaping the stack and will be designed to be operated year round.
