Description

Description

The Sydney Curling Club has undertaken a Capital Build Project with the goal of a new build in the Open Hearth Park in Sydney, NS. The current club, located on George St, was built in 1910, and unfortunately is not a viable option for the sport in our community for the future. The club has purchased a plot of land in the Open Hearth Park at the corner of Ferry St and Stable Dr. The project plan is to build a 6 sheet curling club, 2 sheets more than the current club, in order to foster the growth the club has realized in the past decade. Currently, our club is at capacity and is unable to facilitate any further growth of the sport and active living for our community. The membership of the club and our programming touches all demographics of our community, including but not limited to: youth, seniors, women, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, visible minorities, and more. The sport of curling is throwing in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and we hope to continue that growth into the future.
