Sydney Metro has added an extra 166 weekly services on the M1 Line to boost capacity during peak travel times and weekends. Three additional trains ordered as part of the Sydney Metro Southwest extension are temporarily brought into service to support this uplift. Additional weekday services have been added to manage rush hours, with trains running every three minutes and 45 seconds until April 17, 2026. More services will be added from April 20, 2026, with peak trains running every three minutes and 30 seconds. Weekend train frequency has increased from every 10 minutes to every seven minutes, increasing weekend capacity by around 40%. Line closures will proceed as planned to connect the Bankstown extension with the existing M1 Line ahead of the Sydney Metro Southwest opening later in 2026.
