City of Bremerton has executed design contract, as of 11/3/22, with DKS Associates in the amount of $220,049.25 for the Design of this project. Project Overview To install rectangular rapid flashing beacons, appropriate thermoplastic marked crosswalks, and ADA curb ramps at 8 high-risk locations throughout the City in order to reduce motor vehicle and pedestrian crashes. Needs & Benefits The City of Bremerton's 2020 Strategic Road Safety Plan identified and prioritized several safety improvement projects to address locations with the highest risk of future collisions in the city with an emphasis on reducing fatal and serious injury crashes. The City applied for and was award a grant the Systemic Pedestrian Treatments project. Project Status 3/3/21 - City Council Accepted the project grant. 11/3/22 - City has executed design contract with DKS Associates. 2/1/23 - 30% design milestone completed. End Result Installation of 8 Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) crossings with pavement markings and approximately 30 curb ramps to make pedestrian crossings safer and accessible to all.
