Systems Thinking for Agricultural Risk Management

SYSARM (Systems Thinking for Agricultural Risk Management) addresses the urgent need for adult upskilling in the agri-food sector, aligned with the Erasmus+ Forward-Looking Call – Topic 4: Support to the Pact for Skills. The project develops a modular online training offer, combining a MOOC with interactive simulators and a practical challenge to build systems thinking and risk literacy. It targets farmers, SME staff, and rural workers facing climate, market, and policy disruptions. SYSARM focuses on transversal competences such as strategic foresight and adaptive planning, not typically covered in traditional VET. Training outcomes will be validated through micro-credentials aligned with EU frameworks (GreenComp, DigComp, EQF). The project will also establish Regional Learning Alliances to support adoption and policy dialogue. All materials will be open-access and designed for integration into existing adult learning ecosystems. SYSARM builds on lessons from past EU projects while addressing gaps in risk management and skills recognition in agriculture.
