Description | The development objective of the SZOPAD Social Fund Project is to increase the access of the population in the poor and most conflict-affected areas of the Special Zone for Peace and Development (SZOPAD) to basic economic and social infrastructure, services, and employment opportunities, through speedy financing of subprojects for local development initiatives. The project consists of two components: 1) The Financing of subprojects component, will provide grant financing to Local Government Units (LGUs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and Community Groups for small scale social and economic infrastructure, such as rural roads, rural water supply and sanitation, small scale irrigation schemes, and communal clinics and schools. Financing will also be available for supplies, equipment, and technical services related to the delivery of community services, such as teaching materials, medical equipment, and essential medicines. 2) Institutional support component will finance services of the Social Fund contracted staff, vehicles, office equipment, and operating expenses, as well as technical assistance and training to help improve the Social Fund's operations capacity and internal procedures. |
