Description | The T3 International Terminal construction project at Chennai airport is part of the phase II modernisation project involving the construction of an integrated terminal building for international flight operations. The project spans 220,972 sq. m. and commenced almost seven years ago in two phases with an estimated cost of ₹2,467 crore. The first phase (T2 Terminal) was completed and inaugurated in 2023, while the second phase (T3 Terminal) started the following year but is only 40% complete as of May 2026. The project has faced multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other reasons, with a revised completion deadline of December 2026. Two contractors responsible for interior work have pulled out due to financial challenges, but fresh bids have been floated and contracts will be awarded soon to avoid further delays. |
