Description
Description | "Tackle Your Feelings Europe (TYFE) project is aimed at promoting mental health and well-being among professional and elite athletes. By addressing the stigma surrounding mental health in sports, the project empowers athletes, strengthens support structures, and raises public awareness. Contributing to the sport priority of encouraging healthy lifestyle for all and and the horizontal priority of addressing digital transformation through development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity, the project´s objective is to develop and implement strategies to protect and promote the mental health and wellbeing of professional and elite athletes. The project builds on the successful ""Tackle Your Feelings"" campaign initiated in Ireland and expands it across Europe, adapting strategies to different cultural contexts. Through research, education, and advocacy, TYFE will enhance mental health literacy, develop tailored resources, and equip athlete associations with effective support tools. TYFE has four main pillars: 1. Research and data collection – Conducting surveys, interviews and focus groups to assess athlete mental health, barriers to help-seeking, and best practices. 2. Training and sharing good practices – Organizing workshops for athlete associations, enhancing their ability to support mental well-being and creating a Good Practice Guide on Supporting Athlete Mental Health. 3. Athlete engagement – Hosting National Athlete Events and developing a website with resources for the athletes to provide accessible mental health tools. 4. Awareness and policy Impact – Running a Europe-wide social media campaign, featuring athletes as role models, and delivering policy recommendations to EU institutions. The project involves 10 organisations from 7 different European countries (Ireland, Italy, Finland, France, Spain, Slovenia, the Netherlands), including 9 athlete associations representing more than 11 000 sportspeople in a number of different sports." |
