Description

The objective that applies to all levels of the project is to develop and maintain an objectified approach towards radicalisation/extremism within the criminal law chain in general, and the custodial institutions in particular. In the applying countries this project will result in: • Increasing the awareness of radicalisation within the custodial institutions. • A tailor made approach to prevent further radicalisation in the custodial institutions and to increase dis-engagement and de-radicalisation of identified extremists. • Optimal and efficient exploitation of the concentrated placement of identified extremists. • Improvement of the transfer of terrorist case studies within the criminal law chain. • International exchange. From these results the society as a whole and also detainees will benefit. Next to that, a multi-layered training structure will affect almost 20.000 employees in Dutch and Belgian institutions. Also other partners in the criminal law chain will gain more knowledge and will be equipped with a reliable risk assessment tool. Objectives & activities & outputs 1 The adequate identification and response on signs of radicalisation within the custodial institutions . Activities & outputs: Trainings, seminar for prison-management, multidisciplinary meetings in institutions (NL & BE). 2: Optimising the approach towards identified extremists within the custodial institutions. Activities & outputs: evaluation report differentation approach, inventory of best practices on deradicalisation and disengagement (foremost NL). 3: Optimising the exchange of terrorist case studies within the criminal law chain. Activities & outputs: Steering group meetings/working groups/expert groups VERA-2R, formats and guidelines VERA-2R, master classes, and refresher days frontline employees (NL). 4: International exchange on risk assessment and best practices for deradicalisation and disengagement. Activities & outputs: working visits NL, UK and BE.
