Description | The project entails the construction of the 16MW Taft small hydro power plant in the Philippines. The plant is located on the Tubig River in Eastern Samar and has a yearly capacity of 70GWh, which connects to the Visayas grid. It will supply electricity to Samar Island and Leyte Province. The project company is Taft Hydroenergy Corporation (THEC), majority-owned by Caloocan-based Magis Energy. The SPV received a P1.0 billion ($19.41 million) loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), under DBP's Financing Utilities for Sustainable Energy Development.
