Description

Description

NI-Van Tailoring and Design is a 100% nationally owned business specializing in garment production and training. Since its establishment in 2015, the company has been constantly offering sewing classes to women and young girls who are now specialized in tailoring and the design of garments, including the retail sale of custom-made products. The company also sells locally designed fabrics to other small tailoring businesses and individuals. The business is located at Laurabada Avenue, Boroko, Port Moresby and it also serves its clients in other provinces in PNG through direct sales and skills training. The objective of this project is to establish a second production facility including the purchase of new machinery and equipment. The new production facility will also serve as a storage and distribution/sales outlet in Port Moresby. Once the new production facility comes into operation, garments will be locally printed and manufactured, and sold both domestically and internationally. The new facility would comprise required equipment including, but not limited to, cutting tables, industry-grade sewing machines, and overlock/ serger machines including sewing and embroidery tools that will be needed for various purposes. The project is seeking to collaborate with potential business partners to establish the new facility with the required machinery/equipment. The collaboration would also involve the licensing of local designs on fabrics as well as the involvement of potential management contracts. The project further seeks to open up new markets (both domestic and international buyers) and access raw materials in better-negotiated terms. While the project will create direct employment for women and young girls in both urban and rural areas, the project also aims to upskill and empower them to contribute positively to society.
