Taltson Hydroelectricity Expansion

The Northwest Territories has two isolated electric power transmission systems to service the North Slave (Snare Grid) and South Slave (Taltson Grid) regions.The Government of Northwest Territories proposes to expand the existing Taltson generating station with construction of a new 60-megawatt, clean energy hydroelectricity facility and 270 kilometres of transmission lines to connect the two transmission systems.Once operational, the new Taltson generating station has the potential to eliminate an estimated 240,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually by replacing diesel power generation. It will also increase electricity reliability in the regions. The project is part of a full service, Government of Northwest Territories led infrastructure corridor concept – transportation, energy and communications – and aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels energy generation in the region.Benefits of CIB involvementOur team of experts will assist Government’s team to develop the project’s financial structure and business case.We could also be potential investor after the business case is developed, financial structuring is confirmed and due diligence is completed. Any investment decision is dependent on the CIB’s Board.
