Description

In 2011, the Canadian company Transcanada was awarded the right to build and operate a natural gas pipeline starting in the state of San Luis Potosi and finishing in the state of Queretaro. The pipeline named Gasoducto Tamazunchale-El Sauz was set to have 235 km in extension with a maximum transport capacity of 630 mmpcd. The bidding criteria and the names of other participants were not available. The sponsors agreed to supply natural gas to electricity generating units located in the states of San Luis Potosi, Queretaro and Hidalgo. Transcanada assigned its subsidiary Transportadora de Gas Natural de la Huasteca (TGNH) to manage the project. The 25-year contract was signed with the regulatory agency CFE was signed in February 2012. The total investment in the project was estimated at US$ 600 million. Construction works began in November 2012 and were concluded by November 2014.
