Description

Since 2021, Tamil Nadu has attracted over ₹29,200 crore in investments in the wind and solar energy sectors. The wind sector has added 816 MW of new capacity with ₹5,700 crore invested and another ₹4,200 crore planned for 600 MW more. The solar sector has drawn over ₹23,500 crore for 6,736 MW, with projects worth ₹39,000 crore (5,700 MW) under advanced approval stages. The state aims to source 50% of its power from renewable sources by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2070. Several landmark projects are underway including a 375 MW / 1500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System, 500 MW Pumped Storage Project at Kundah, and projects at Vellimalai and Aliyar. Infrastructure upgrades like Green Energy Corridor-II and new 765 kV substations will enhance renewable evacuation capacity.
