Description | The Tampa Bay Rays are planning to build a new $2.3 billion ballpark on the site of Hillsborough College's Dale Mabry campus in Tampa, Florida. The team has proposed to pay $1.235 billion plus all design and construction cost overruns, seeking $1.01 billion in public funding, including $702 million from Hillsborough County and $224 million from the City of Tampa. The project aims to be the Rays' new 'forever home' with a completion goal by 2029. However, the project faces delays as Florida State Senator Ed Hooper has called for the Florida Legislature to pause allocating state funds toward the project, impacting the team's leverage and timeline. |
