Description | The Tanga Refinery Hub in Tanzania is a regional energy project driven by the leaders of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania to create a self-sustaining regional energy loop. The 1,445km East African Crude Oil Pipeline (Eacop) will transport Ugandan crude from Lake Albert to the Tanga refinery, which will process the oil into petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel while exporting heavier crude. The finished products will be distributed through an expanded Kenya Pipeline Company network to Kenya and Uganda, forming a closed-loop distribution system. Uganda has acquired a 20.15% stake in KPC to share transit revenues, reinforcing regional cooperation. |
