Description
Description | The STEP BY STEP: Tango for Active Ageing project promotes active ageing and social inclusion by integrating tango as a therapeutic tool for elderly individuals, including those with neurodegenerative conditions. Scientific studies confirm the benefits of dance and music for seniors’ physical and cognitive well-being, and this project builds on past research and EU initiatives to create an innovative and sustainable intervention. A key component of STEP BY STEP is the knowledge gained from a KA1 mobility project, where the coordinator is currently learning best practices from European organisations specializing in elderly care. This experience will inform training sessions, ensuring accessibility and alignment with proven methodologies. The project also draws on insights from TANGO-LIFE, a KA2 project supporting people with mental disabilities through dance. The collaboration will enhance program adaptability and impact. The project engages three organisations from different European countries to promote cross-border knowledge exchange and capacity-building. Over the course of the project, each organisation will train at least 20 seniors, resulting in 60 trained participants across the consortium. Additionally, three public performances will showcase participants’ progress and foster community awareness. Key Expected Impacts: Short-term: Increased mobility, cognitive stimulation, and social interaction for participants. Medium-term: Integration of tango-based methods into the regular programs of partner organisations. Long-term: Sustainable implementation, policy advocacy, and further collaboration within Erasmus+ and local healthcare initiatives. Sustainability and Dissemination: The project will ensure continuity by embedding tango training into partner organisations’ activities, securing additional funding, and fostering collaborations with policymakers. Digital resources, training materials, and online learning tools will be made available for widespread adop |
