The plant will generate 500 megawatts of electricity to meet growing demand and provide backup generation for wind and solar energy. It will be built by ProEnergy and operated by its subsidiary Rigs Energy Atlantic, with minority equity investment from the North Shore Mi'kmaq Tribal Council. The plant is planned to start preliminary work in early 2026 and begin operation by the third quarter of 2028. |
