Tanzania - Road Sector Support Project II

Road Sector Support Project II goal is to contribute to socio-economic development, poverty reduction and integration of the regions of the country through an improved transport system that links centres of economic activity. It comprises: (a) civil works for upgrading from gravel to bitumen standards: (i) the Dodoma (Mayamaya)-Babati (Bonga) (188.1km); and (ii) the Tunduru-Mangaka-Mtambaswala (202.5km); (b) consulting services for: (i) design review and supervision of the civil works; (ii) road safety; (iii) sensitization of HIV/AIDS, STI, TB and gender; (iv) baseline data collection and monitoring of ESMP implementation; (v) road sub-sector studies; and (vi) audit; (c) capacity building; and (d) compensation and resettlement. The project will be implemented over a five year period. The total cost amounts to UA212.78 million.
