Tanzania - Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Program (Phase II)

This project is the Phase II of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Program (RWSSP) which is part of the National Water Sector Development Program and covering Tanzania mainland. The proposed Phase II, jointly prepared with the GOT and the DPs, includes construction of rural water supply and sanitation infrastructure, National Sanitation Campaigns & School WASH, and Sector Management Support. It will bring general improvements in time savings as a result of the reduction in time people spent in collection of water. There will also be cost savings as people will spent less on public health and, also, there shall be a reduction in the spread of waterborne diseases. Implementation of the Program will contribute towards the eradication of poverty and contribute towards meeting of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The Program Phase II will be implemented over a period of four years 2011-2014 at a total cost of UA 200 million.
