Tanzania - Small Entrepreneurs Loan Facility Project (SELF)

The Small Entrepreneurs Loan Facility (SELF) represents the first major initiative, which responds to the newly formulated Government of Tanzania Strategy for Poverty Eradication. It aims at addressing the micro-finance service’s need of some of the most improverished categories of the population and regions of the country. This initiative is timely, in the sense that it coincides with current reform in the sub-sector and will complement AMINA and other on-going donor supported microfinance interventions in the country. The Project comprised of the following four components: (i) Credit and Savings Services; (ii) Outreach and Monitoring; (iii) Capacity Building; (iv) Project Implementation Unit.project implementation will be initiated on a pilot basis in a limited number of regions and will be expanded to other regions while gradually building the capacity of the PIU and the skills of the staff and intermediary entities. At the initial stage, the project will be implemented in Mtwara, Coast, Lindi, Morogoro, Dodoma, and Singida regions.
