Tanzania - Zanzibar and Pemba Power Systems Rehabilitation Project

The project was initiated to correct the deteriorated conditions of the Generators and electricity Distribution systems in Zanzibar and Pemba. It was estimated that, with the implementation of this project, technical losses would be reduced from 35% to 20% of energy sent out. The major components of the project will be as follows: (i) Rehabilitation of generation plants; (ii) Rehabilitation of distribution systems; (iii) Supply of meters and radio communication equipment; (iv) Civil works and office equipment; (v) Vehicles; (vi) Technical assistance and training; (vii) Supervision consultancy services.
