Description
Description | The Taoyuan Aerotropolis project involves the expropriation of 2,500 hectares of land in its first phase, with plans for more land to be taken. It aims to develop the area around Taoyuan International Airport into a major transportation hub and create 200,000-300,000 new jobs. The project has led to the displacement of approximately 40,000 residents and includes construction of aviation infrastructure such as a third runway and an agricultural park. The project has faced significant opposition from local residents and rights advocates due to concerns about expropriation, class bias, and community erasure. |
