Description | The Indian Navy received Taragiri (Yard 12653), the fourth Nilgiri-class indigenous advanced stealth frigate under Project 17A, after its delivery at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL), Mumbai, on 28 November 2025. The frigate features advanced stealth shaping, enhanced firepower, higher automation, and improved survivability. It carries an upgraded weapon and sensor suite including BrahMos missiles, MFSTAR and MRSAM complexes, and anti-submarine rockets and torpedoes. The ship was designed by the Navy's Warship Design Bureau and built using the Integrated Construction approach, completed within planned timelines with 75% indigenisation. |
