Description
Description | Tata Power is planning to develop two 220-megawatt small modular nuclear reactors. The project involves discussions with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) focusing on technical and regulatory aspects. Land has been identified in three Indian states (Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Odisha), and groundwork such as soil testing and geotechnical studies has begun. Project reports are expected in about six months, after which Tata Power will seek regulatory approvals. The reactors are intended for placement in industrial zones for captive use and grid supply, with advantages over larger reactors in terms of space constraints. |
